Samsung has launched new Pokémon-themed special versions of its recent wireless earbuds. The company is offering the Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro with unique cases in three Pokémon shapes: Snorlax, Ditto, and Jigglypuff. They are available in South Korea starting today. There’s no word yet on their availability elsewhere.
These Pokémon-themed TWS headphones consist of wireless earbuds in black color, unique cases in the aforementioned three Pokémon designs, and corresponding stickers. Samsung has priced the Galaxy Buds 2 at KRW 129,000 (approx. $100) and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro at KRW 199,000 (approx. $155). The prices are similar to regular earbuds with no special customizations. So Pokémon fans have no reason to not opt for these.
But unlike the regular Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, the Pokémon versions may not be available widely at all retail stores. These unique earbuds are available online through the Korean e-commerce platform G Market starting today. Samsung will also bring the buds to its new flagship store in Gangnam, the third largest district in South Korea’s capital city Seoul. The store opens this Thursday, June 29. The company will seemingly let users buy only the cases without the buds for KRW 39,600 (approx $30) at its Gangnam store.
Samsung launches new Pokémon-themed Galaxy Buds 2 and Buds 2 Pro
The Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro aren’t the first Samsung products to get Pokémon-themed special versions. The Korean firm has launched several other products designed after the iconic fictional characters in the past. In fact, it’s not the first time these earbuds got such treatment. In May last year, the company launched the Galaxy Buds 2 with a Poké Ball-shaped case.
Before that, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Pokémon Edition featuring a bunch of add-ons such as a pouch with a lanyard strap, a Poké Ball-shaped stand, a Pikachu keychain, Pokémon stickers, Pokémon cards, and more. In November, the company released Pokémon-themed accessories for the Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5, and all recent wireless earbuds, including the Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.
While these accessories were also available in the US, Samsung doesn’t seem to be bringing the latest Pokémon Edition Galaxy products anywhere outside its homeland South Korea. At least not just yet. It didn’t hint at a wider availability in its official Korean press release. Nonetheless, we will keep an eye on the company’s newsrooms and let you know as soon as we have more information.
