Samsung is testing the One UI 6.0 update for the US versions of the Galaxy S22 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The internal testing began recently as the company prepares to launch public beta programs next month. The stable One UI update, which brings Android 14, should arrive in October.
One UI 6.0 testing is underway for several Galaxy devices at Samsung’s labs
One UI 6.0 is a major platform update for Samsung’s custom Android software. Based on Android 14, it will bring a host of new features and other functional improvements. The company has been internally testing the big One UI update for over a month now. During this period, we have spotted test builds for the international versions of the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4. These three should be the first in the pipeline to get beta updates and the first to the stable updates as well.
Rumors are that Samsung will launch public beta programs for the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 in the third week of July, at least for the Galaxy S23 series. Ahead of that, Twitter user @theonecid has spotted that internal testing of the One UI 6.0 update is underway for the US versions of Samsung’s Galaxy S22 flagships and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 foldable. The latest test build for the former has firmware version S908USQU2DWF1 (Galaxy S22+), while that for the latter is F936USQU3DWF8.
As usual, these sightings don’t give us any concrete information about One UI 6.0 or Samsung’s planned beta schedule. But it hints at a nearing public release of the first beta build. The company may soon start testing the update for the US versions of the Galaxy S23 series and other devices. As said earlier, the latest flagships will probably get the One UI 6.0 beta update first. The likes of the Galaxy S22 series and the two 2022 foldables may follow soon after. We will let you know when the rollout begins.
As far as the stable One UI 6.0 update is concerned, we are expecting Samsung to begin the rollout in October. Last year, the Galaxy S22 series got the stable One UI 5.0 update in late October. A wider rollout for other models didn’t begin until a few days into November, though. The Korean firm may do slightly better this year. That’s based on the beta schedule. Last year’s beta testing began in early August last year. The One UI 4.0 beta in the preceding year began in mid-September.
