The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has saved the life of a Ukrainian soldier. This story comes from Reddit, and it shows a picture of the device as well. The phone managed to stop some shrapnel in order to protect its owner.

Needless to say, the shrapnel did destroy the phone, but that’s a small price to pay. As you can see in the image below, some shrapnel landed in the top-left corner of the phone.

Not only did the phone save his life, but he won’t have to pay for a new one either. Samsung reached out to the owner and said that they’ll take care of the repairs for free. Truth be told, providing him with a new device may be the way to go. This one seems to be gone.

As a reminder, the Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with a frame made out of titanium, while it has Gorilla Glass Armor 2 on the front and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back.

The shrapnel came from a gun

Another thing worth noting is that the shrapnel came from a gun. A higher caliber bullet would have done more damage. That’s basically it. The story on Reddit is not too long, so we don’t really know how Samsung even managed to contact the owner, but the company apparently did that.

Needless to say, every company should do this. Not only is it the right thing to do for the person affected, but it’s also great publicity for the manufacturer of a phone. It’s a small price to pay for Samsung. Still, it’s nice to see.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra may not be a rugged smartphone, but it managed to save a life in this particular instance. There was a lot of luck included in the process, of course, but the most important thing is the outcome. Check out our Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra review if you’d like to know more about the phone.
