The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge actually did a really good job in a series of torture tests recently. Well, it’s time to check out some additional tests. This time around, Samsung’s ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge handset is facing a series of drop tests.
These tests have been conducted by PBK Reviews, and the video was published on the official YouTube channel. That video is embedded below the article, in case you’d like to check it out. Let’s talk about what’s shown in it.
The Galaxy S25 Edge was dropped several times, and the display cracked from the get-go
For the first test, the phone was dropped from head height onto the display. The sound it made when it dropped was not promising for a reason, the glass cracked. However, the display did remain functional.
The second drop has seen the phone dropped on its back, instead of on its display. It did not land flat on the back, its frame hit the pavement, so that part got damaged, though nothing cracked.
The third time around, the phone was dropped on the back again, from head height, and it landed on its back this time around. The backplate cracked towards the side. Some scratches can be found on the camera bezel, but the cameras are fine. The screen survived once again, though it wasn’t impacted directly, of course.
For the final test, the phone was dropped from waist height onto its side. Some additional scrapes from the drop can be visible, but other than that, it’s all good. The phone remained functional.
Better results were expected, but… the phone did survive
Considering how light the Galaxy S25 Edge is, the tester expected the display not to crack after the first drop, as did we… but that’s not what happened. Despite the fact that this display is flat and despite the phone’s lightness, the display did crack. We wonder how tough the Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 really is.
