Samsung‘s impressive run with Android 12 rollout isn’t ending just yet. The company has already released the big Android update to all its eligible flagship models. It’s now moving on to the lower tier of devices. Yesterday, the Korean giant released the stable Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update to the Galaxy A72. Today, we have the Galaxy A52 joining the party.
As of this writing, the Galaxy A52 is receiving the Android 12 update with One UI 4.0 in Russia. But it should be long before users in other countries get to taste the new One UI version. You can lookout for an update with firmware version A525FXXU4BUL8 in the coming days.
The latest update for last year’s popular Galaxy mid-ranger bundles the December 2021 Android security patch. It’s not the most recent one but we aren’t complaining as there are plenty of other things to look forward to. One UI 4.0 brings a plethora of new features, changes, and improvements to Samsung’s smartphones. We have covered the full changelog here, and you can rest assured that the majority of those goodies will come to the Galaxy A52 as well.
Samsung has massively improved its software game in recent years
Samsung has been overwhelmingly fast with the One UI 4.0 update for its devices. The likes of Galaxy A72 and Galaxy A52 were not expected to receive Android 12 in January, let alone in the first week of the month. As said before, all of its flagship models have already picked up the big update. Even the Galaxy Tab S7 series has received the latest One UI version. If you look back to the company’s Android 11 rollout, it had released the update to just three flagship smartphone models by the end of December 2020.
This commitment from Samsung is not just for major Android OS updates. The Korean firm is as fast with security updates as well. For the past several months, it has rolled out the latest SMR (security maintenance release) to its devices before any other Android OEM, including Google. The company begins the rollout even before we have entered the new month, and does so without fail every month. It’s a massive improvement from a company that was once called out for slow software updates, and not too long ago.
Considering the number of smartphones Samsung releases every year, there are still dozens of them awaiting the Android 12 update. But it should quickly seed the new version to those devices too. Stay tuned.
