Summary: An alleged internal One UI 8 firmware build for the Galaxy S25 Ultra flagship smartphone has surfaced on the company’s Korean firmware database. The new build has appeared after the initial appearance of the same on a global unit.

After delaying it for months, Samsung finally started rolling out the stable One UI 7 update to the Galaxy S24 series and its latest foldables a few days ago. Thanks to the countless delays, the company will reportedly not release any intermediate updates to the One UI 7, and One UI 8.0 will be the update after the current firmware.

Samsung could introduce the Android 16-based One UI 8 at its second Unpacked event in July 2025. Recently, a tipster spotted a global Galaxy S25 Ultra model running Android 16 (presumably with One UI 8) ahead of the official announcement. Now, the same source has spotted the Korean variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra with an internal One UI 8 build.

Internal One UI 8 build for the Galaxy S25 Ultra has surfaced

The reliable gadget tipster Tarun Vats has shared the build number of the test One UI firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Korean unit. The new build has the firmware version S938NKSU2BYD6, which is for the South Korean model (SM-S938N) of the phone.

Testers previously spotted the One UI 8.0 build during testing on the global variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It now appears that the brand has expanded the internal testing for the next major update to One UI. Unfortunately, the latest leak revealed no other details about the company’s new custom Android user interface.

Samsung’s next foldables could run Android 16 and One UI 8.0 out of the box

If we believe the reports, the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will boot Android 16 and One UI 8.0. Google’s push to roll out Android 16 sooner seems to have fueled an early release of One UI 8. While the One UI 8 internal testing has started early, it doesn’t guarantee an advanced release schedule for users.

That said, Samsung has already delivered major design and functional upgrades in the One UI 7 update. So, the company’s One UI 8 version is likely to be a minor upgrade. We expect more details about One UI 8 to emerge soon, so stay in touch.
