The official trialer has been released for The Unseen, an all-new horror film starring Breaking Bad‘s RJ Mitte. Picked up by Gravitas Ventures for its North American release, the film is now set to hit limited theaters and on demand platforms on June 30. It follows Mitte as a law student targeted by a supernaturally evil force, and as his problems mount, it becomes more difficult to determine what’s real and what’s not. Or as the synopsis puts it, he “finds himself losing his mind in a twisted web of murder and deceit brought on by a dark force from his past—an unstoppable supernatural fury hell-bent on achieving its horrific goal.”

The Unseen is written and produced by Jennifer A. Goodman (Better Call Saul, Conrad), who also stars in the film alongside Mitte. It is produced under Goodman’s Lakefront Pictures banner alongside co-founder Ryan Atkins. The pair oversaw the production. Vincent Shade directed and produced with Mitte, Goodman, Atkins, Jordan Ancel, and Evan J. Cholfin.

Along with Mitte and Goodman, the film also stars Christian Stolte (Chicago Fire), William Mark McCullough (The Walking Dead), Sue Cremin (FBI), Candice Rose (Stranger Things), Kimberly Michelle Vaughn (Empire), Ava Bianchi, and Rebekah Kennedy (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).

“As a person on the autism spectrum who has struggled throughout my life, I am honored to be able to bring this film to a large audience, supporting people whose voices may go unheard through my work and to open up peoples’ perspectives to a whole universe of creativity,” Goodman said of the project.

This is a new kind of threat for RJ Mitte to face. The Breaking Bad alum does have some experience in the horror genre after appearing in titles like The Recall and The Oak Room. He has also appeared in other films like Rivers Run Red, Standing Up for Sunny, and Triumph. The actor has also had roles in the shows Vegas, Switched at Birth, and Now Apocalypse. More recently, he’s been doing work for Netflix’s live-action/animation hybrid series The Guardians of Justice.

Mitte lives with cerebral palsy, and he’s been outspoken about how privileged he feels to bring representation to the screen with the roles that he plays. It was a major plot point in Breaking Bad and is often a part of the story with Mitte’s projects. He recently spoke about how important it is to have that representation on-screen.

“Having positive influences of individuals with disabilities, not just cerebral palsy, but all of them, changes the mindset,” he said, via WUWF. “I think that can really inspire individuals, and that can do wonders for confidence and self-esteem. If you see a character that’s going through the same struggle as you, and they’re succeeding, and in your life you may not be, it can help inspire you to get that extra push.”

The Unseen will screen in limited theaters and will be available on demand on June 30, 2023.
