Ring has come to CES 2025 with a few new products, including one that is a new product category for the company. First up is the Floodlight Cam Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro. These aren’t actually new cameras, but rather a software update for its existing cameras. The Floodlight Cam Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro are both getting 2K video resolution.

The company knows that video quality is very important to customers, which is why it is introducing Ring Vision, which is the heart of the new image quality. Ring Vision works to combine software, hardware and Ring’s internal expertise to ensure balanced color, contrast, and motion smoothing. Allowing customers to get the best detail possible.

Ring says that the 2K video feature will start to roll out on January 8. Existing customers can upgrade their Floodlight Cam Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro to 2K resolution for free, within the Ring app.

Ring is taking on Nest with its first Smart Smoke Alarm

Before Google purchased Nest, the company was well known for its smart thermostat and smart smoke alarm. The Nest Protect is still on sale, however it hasn’t been updated in years. Ring, however, has partnered with Kidde to create a smart smoke alarm. In fact, it is a collection of smart smoke and combination alarms (Smoke and CO) with Ring built-in. Additionally, Ring is also introducing a new optional 24/7 Smoke & CO Monitoring service, giving users even more peace of mind.

Ring is also going to help to reduce the annoyance of the low-battery chirp, by alerting the user about seven days in advance of the chirp starting, within the Ring app. So the batteries can be replaced without any chirping.

The Smart Smoke Alarm and Combination Alarm will be available in the US exclusively through The Home Depot, beginning in April. The optional Ring 24/7 Smoke & CO Monitoring service will be available for $5/month beginning on April 2.
