Respawn Entertainment announced this morning that it’s currently working on three new games in the Star Wars universe. One of those new titles will be a follow-up to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. A popular game in the Star Wars franchise that was well-received by critics and fans. It currently sits at a score of 79 on metacritic with a user score of 7.6.
Having said that, there’s no doubt fans are happy to hear it will be getting a sequel. According to Respawn’s official Twitter post announcing the news, the Game Director of the current Star Wars Jedi title Stig Asmussen will be returning to work on the next game alongside his team.
If you’re unfamiliar with the first game, it takes place canonically after Revenge of The Sith. It follows the story of Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan being hunted by two members of the Imperial Inquisition. It’s an action adventure game but also has a healthy dose of puzzle solving and challenging battles.
Respawn is also working on a Star Wars first-person shooter
In addition to a Star Wars Jedi sequel, Respawn is also working on a first-person shooter in the Star Wars universe. That probably comes as no shock to anyone. Considering much of Respawn’s more recent hits include Apex Legends and Titanfall 2. Not to mention a mobile version of Apex Legends that should be due for a release on Android and iOS sometime this year.
There’s little to nothing known about this new Star Wars fps game. However, Respawn does note that the game is currently in production and is being directed by Peter Hirschmann. Who has previously worked on numerous games in the Star Wars franchise, including Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, LEGO Star Wars II, and Star Wars: Battlefront.
Lastly, there’s a Star Wars strategy game in the works in partnership with Bit Reactor. This is a brand-new studio, but it’s formed from veterans of Firaxis, responsible for turn-based strategy titles like XCOM and XCOM 2.
There’s no word yet on where all these games may be headed. But you can bet both the Star Wars Jedi sequel and the first-person shooter will land on both PC and consoles.
