Cinedigm has released the official trailer for Boon, the sequel to last year’s action-thriller Red Stone. Bringing back Neal McDonough in the lead role, the sequel also puts Derek Presley back in the director’s chair, with the two picking up from where they left off to expand Nick Boon’s story. The film arrives in theaters and on digital and VOD on April 1, and you can check out the new trailer below.

Boon stars veteran actor Neal McDonough, Tommy Flanagan (Braveheart, Sons of Anarchy), Christiane Seidel (The Queen’s Gambit, Godless), Jason Scott Lee (Mulan, Hawaii Five-0), Demetrius Grosse (Rampage, Fear the Walking Dead), Christina Ochoa (Animal Kingdom, A Million Little Things), Gabrielle Carteris (Code Black, Beverly Hills, 90210), Jake Melrose (Disney’s Secret of Sulphur Springs), James Madio (Band of Brothers), and singer-songwriter Pat Monahan of Train.

The official synopsis reads: “Mercenary Nick Boon (McDonough) is trying to atone for his life as an enforcer for a ruthless syndicate. Running from his past, Boon moves to a remote area in the pacific northwest where he meets a struggling widow (Seidel) and her son. When he finds the pair living in fear of a criminal kingpin (Flanagan), Boon realizes the only way to protect them is to do what he does best: Kill.”

Derek Presley directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with McDonough. McDonough also produced alongside Jason Starne, Stephen Endelman, and Ruve McDonough.

Released in December, Red Stone introduced Neal McDonough as the dangerous hitman he’ll be revisiting in Boon. Derek Presley wrote and directed the feature, which also starred Michael Cudlitz, Mike Dopud, Dominic Scott Kay, Dash Melrose, and Alexandria DeBerry. Bringing back the same mind behind the original along with McDonough, he’s gotten more involved creatively with Boon, was a pretty easy sell for Cinedigm.

“It’s rare you have the opportunity to bring back an actor/director partnership like Neal (McDonough) and Derek (Presley),” Cinedigm’s Chief Content Officer, Yolanda Macias, said of the movie, per Deadline. “There is exceptional chemistry on screen as well as behind the camera, and you can see there is a great deal of trust between them. The conflict and complexity of the characters give the film an added layer of depth, which separates this filmmaker duo within the genre.”

Presley added, “Working with Neal, to bring this story to life, allowed us to create a deeper, more complex character in Nick Boon. Even as the character is trying to reform, he finds the line between right and wrong is not easily defined. As Boon once protected the guilty, he now must punish them. This natural conflict keeps the tension high. It was also great to lean on Neal for unique casting ideas, such as Pat Monahan, the lead singer of Train, who has been a good friend of his for more than a decade.”

Boon will be released in theaters and on digital and VOD on April 1, 2022.
