Reality Is an Illusion in New Trailer for Sci-Fi Film Awareness

Ahead of its debut at the 2023 Sitges Film Festival and on Prime Video on October 11, upcoming Spanish science fiction movie Awareness has unveiled its full trailer. Acclaimed director, writer, and producer Daniel Benmayor, responsible for the Netflix thriller Welcome to Eden, helms Awareness, which follows a young outcast who possesses the strange skill to create illusions in people’s heads, manipulating the reality they see. He lives without thinking about the future, and survives by scamming people with his abilities. But when his powers are exposed, he will have to escape two criminal organizations that want him for their own benefits.

Prime Video unveiled the full trailer for the movie that stars Carlos Scholz, Pedro Alonso, María Pedraza, and Óscar Jaenada:

Where Have You Seen the Cast of Awareness?

Beyond the presence of American actress Lela Loren (The Hangover Part III), Awareness has a great cast made up of big names from the Spanish film industry. Ian is played by Carlos Scholz, who debuted as an actor in 2019 in the Netflix hit series Toy Boy, while in 2022 he was part of another original TV series from the platform, Feria: The Darkest Light. Awareness is his second feature film after being part of the 2022’s Unfinished Affairs.

Scholz is joined by another great Netflix star, Pedro Alonso, known for playing Andrés de Fonollosa aka Berlin in Money Heist. Alonso will soon return to play the famous thief in his own spinoff of the acclaimed Spanish series, which arrives at the streaming platform in December. The actor also participated in other acclaimed productions such as The Ministry of Time, Under Suspicion, and Retribution.

María Pedraza is a young Spanish actress who has already worked with some of her co-stars in previous projects. Alongside Scholz, she was a part of the cast of Toy Boy, while like Alonso, she was part of the cast of Money Heist. Her filmography also includes other notable titles such as Élite or Dancing on Glass.

Óscar Jaenada is the real veteran of the entire cast, collecting a long list of hits within his wide filmography. He is already a legend in Spanish-speaking cinema, television, and theater. The actor recently became globally famous for his portrayal of Luis Gallego Sánchez, aka Luisito Rey in the Luis Miguel: The Series. In addition to his role as the father of the Mexican music icon, he recently starred in the Disney+ children’s show Journey to the Center of the Earth, and in 2019 he worked alongside Sylvester Stallone in Rambo: Last Blood.

Jaenada has stood out in other famous productions such as Sylvain White’s The Losers, the 2017 comedy Snatched, Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, and the 2014 biopic Cantinflas, where he played the titular Mexican comedy icon.
