The Nothing Phone (1) design got confirmed yesterday by the company. Nothing released a render showing off the back side of the device. Well, a real-life Nothing Phone (1) has just appeared, and it demos its back-facing notification lights.

Real-life Nothing Phone (1) got showcased during an event in Basel

The phone appeared in Basel, Switzerland, and it appeared in a couple of YouTube videos that are embedded below the article. Images from this event are all over Twitter, and screenshots from the aforementioned videos as well. Rafael Zeier and Lorenz Keller captured some really nice pics of the phone, and you can check them below. Those are the same YouTubers who shared the videos, by the way.

These images allow you to see the Nothing Phone (1) from the back, though its sides are also shown in the video. We still don’t get to see its front side, though a centered camera hole punch is expected, while its display will be flat.

Nothing went for a rather interesting design here, with a see-through back. It has a glass backplate, and you can see a part of its frame and some other details. The sides are completely flat, and there are two cameras on the back.

It features rear-facing notification lights

Nothing also opted to include something interesting on the back, something quite unique. There are a number of lines on the back, that the company used to tease this phone. Those lines actually act as notification lights.

If you check out the content below this paragraph, you’ll see what I mean. Those notification lights are shown in both images and video. We’re not sure if they’re limited to the white color, but it’s possible. You’ll likely get some control over them via software, but we’ll see.

The Nothing Phone (1) will become official on July 12. That much has been confirmed by the company. We know that the device will feature wireless charging, and no “chin” below the display. So, its bezels will likely be uniform.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoC will fuel it, and rumors are claiming it’s the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. A 6.55-inch fullHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate is tipped, and so is Android 12. If you’d like to know more about the device, check out our Nothing Phone (1) preview.
