Razer has announced its newest lineup of gaming speakers, the Nommo V2, and they bring in some notable improvements over the previous models. This new lineup includes the Nommo V2 Pro, Nommo V2, and Nommo V2 X.
Perhaps the biggest change is the addition of the THX Game Profiles. This is the first time any Razer speaker line-up has included this ability, Razer says. And with it players can access special EQs that are specifically tuned to deliver enhanced surround sound audio for certain games. Right now Razer only mentions Cyberpunk 2077 and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. But the company says there are “many more to come.” It does not however mention what or when.
The Nommo V2 line also features THX Spatial Audio. Another first for Razer’s speaker PC speakers, but also for PC speakers in general the company claims.
Razer Nommo V2 speakers come with updated design
Razer has made some sweeping changes to the overall visual design of the Nommo V2. Most notably the speakers are shorter and appear to be slightly more compact.
The previous Nommo speakers had a taller profile. Both from the longer stand and the silk dome tweeters that stat above the drivers. This time around, there are no silk dome tweeters on top, and the base/stand height has been shaved down a bit.
The Razer Chroma RGB has been changed as well. Now sitting on the back of the driver and projecting the light towards the wall to provide a more immersive feel in games (though only on the V2 Pro and V2 models). SteelSeries did the same thing with its Arena speaker lineup. Additionally, Razer changed the shape of the subwoofer. It’s now a cube instead of a cylinder. The Nommo V2 Pro retails for $449.99, while the Nommo V2 is $299.99 and the Nommo V2 X is $149.99.
There are a couple of key differences between the three models. Namely the Pro having a wireless subwoofer and a wireless control pod. The V2 model also comes with a subwoofer but it’s wired instead of wireless, and neither the V2 or the V2 X come with the wireless control pod. Though it is available as an optional accessory for $49.99 Razer says. The Nommo V2 X also doesn’t have the rear projection Chroma lighting.
All three speakers will go on sale in June and will be available from Razer as well as retailers like Best Buy, Amazon and others. You can also pre-order the speakers beginning today.
