Razer today has announced its newest addition to the company’s lineup of peripherals – the Huntsman Mini Analog – a 60% gaming keyboard which it says is the first ever mini keyboard to offer Razer’s analog optical switches. According to Razer, this will provide players with an unprecedented level of control in a much more compact package. Allowing for precision and portability.

Razer’s analog optical switches operate much as any other switch would. You press the key down and the actuation relays a command to the game you’re playing. Unlike some other switches though, it’s supposed to offer a higher level of precision which could result in an advantage in games.

Though, realistically the advantage truly comes from the ability to offer adjustable, dual-step actuation in a single key press. This feature is what really sets the Huntsman Mini (and the Huntsman V2 Analog) apart from other keyboards. As players can make more accurate movements by assigning two actions to every key press.

If you prefer the compact formfactor of a 60% keyboard, then the Huntsman Mini Analog is probably the way to go. There’s a lot of things to love about it. The analog optical switches are certainly chief among them. But the space-saving design for ease of portability is also a desirable trait if you have less desk space.

The keyboard also has a detachable USB-C cable for quick packing and easy plug and play capabilities. On top of that Razer says the keyboard offers a cable latch so players won’t have to worry about the keyboard coming unplugged. As the latch ensures the cable is nice and secure. The last thing you want is the keyboard to stop working at a crucial moment.

Naturally, the Huntsman Mini Analog offers onboard memory for saved profiles and Razer’s Chroma RGB backlighting on the keys. Additionally, it’s made with an aluminum frame for added durability.

The keyboard officially goes on sale today for $149.99. You can find it at Razer’s website as well as through retail partners like Amazon and Best Buy. At the moment it’s only offered in Black, but don’t expect that to last long. As Razer releases many of its products in additional colors later on.
