Rainbow Six Mobile has reportedly been delayed until 2024. More specifically, late 2024. The game has been in development for more than a couple of years and has been available in a small closed regional beta test for both Android and iOS players. We had the chance to check it out in the first alpha in 2022 and even in the alpha, it was quite polished. That isn’t to say there wasn’t still plenty of work to be done. Obviously, the developers felt more work was needed, or the game would already be available.

News of the delay seems to come from Reddit which references a website called Droid Local. Droid Local states that the delay has been posted to the game’s App Store page. Via information that mentions a 2024 release. It’s also stated that the release is going to be in September 2024. Putting the release in the Fall of next year and almost a year away from now. For reference, the game has been available in an open beta testing phase in Canada since August 2023. And followed with open beta availability in additional countries. Including Chile, Mexico, and Colombia.

After checking the App Store listing for ourselves, it does indeed say the game is now expected in September 2024. Interestingly there is nothing mentioned on the Play Store page for the game regarding dates. So it’s unclear if the global release has been delayed for both platforms.

Rainbow Six Mobile being delayed could spell trouble for development

Mobile adaptions of large franchises haven’t always had the best track record. Whether it’s nickel and diming players into oblivion with unnecessary microtransactions or just a general lack of interest. Sooner or later, some of gaming’s biggest franchises have bit the dust when it comes to their mobile counterparts. EA has canceled both Apex Legends Mobile and development on other mobile adaptions it had planned to release.

Ubisoft has yet to announce a cancellation of Rainbow Six Mobile or its other current mobile offering, The Division Resurgence, slated to release in early 2024. However, a nearly year-long delay already seems to have some players talking and wondering if Ubisoft is going to pull the plug on Rainbow Six Mobile. Or maybe it simply needs more time to ensure a really polished game.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile has gone through similar delays. After an expected launch this Fall alongside Modern Warfare III, it was announced at Call of Duty: Next that it would be delayed to 2024 to make sure the game was meeting standards. The game seems to be better for it. So perhaps the same is being done for Rainbow Six Mobile.
