‘Prepare to deploy’: Trump readies 500 Marines for Los Angeles attack on US citizens

Los Angeles has had enough. A series of brutal immigration raids across the city have seen masked ICE thugs in tactical gear dragging hundreds of people away after bursting into homes, churches, and workplaces. Parents are being separated from their young children, who are being tossed in “baby jails”.

The arrests were made without warrants, those arrested have been denied access to lawyers, and the detainees are being held without access to beds, blankets, adequate food, and water. After seeing their friends, co-workers, and family snatched by Trump’s Gestapo, ordinary Los Angeles residents have been pushed beyond breaking point.

Mass protests erupted over the weekend, resulting in Trump activating the National Guard against citizens. This is the first time this has happened in 50 years, with the last time being when LBJ deployed them to protect civil rights marchers in 1965. But the scale of the protest is threatening to overwhelm even them.

Trump’s solution? Deploy the U.S. Marines against an American city. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has put Marines at nearby Camp Pendleton on “prepare to deploy” orders, raising the nightmarish prospect of American soldiers in direct conflict against ordinary American citizens.

Unlike the LAPD and National Guard, Marines aren’t trained to calm down a situation with minimal violence, they’re aggressive warfare specialists whose training prioritizes eliminating enemies over peacefully dispersing them. While individual Marines are disciplined and those deployed will (hopefully) be told to minimize civilian casualties, they will be deployed with live ammunition, and sheer probability indicates that some people opposing them will die.

We can only imagine what must be going through those Marines’ minds. Presumably, they signed up to defend America from foreign enemies, not to attack American citizens on the streets of Los Angeles. Some of these Marines may well be Los Angeles residents, now facing the prospect of marching down the streets of their hometown in full tactical gear with orders to suppress any dissent. Many will be currently be suffering crises of conscience, so who knows what’ll happen if the fateful order is given?

Either way, the fury at anonymous government goons breaking into homes, workplaces, and houses of worship and tossing people into dank dungeons isn’t going to dissipate anytime soon. The Trump administration seems eager to put on a show to force to warn any other city that dares to stand against them, so expect tensions to skyrocket and explode over the next few days.
