Google released the Android 15 QPR1 beta a few days ago. The firmware is the first test build of the upcoming Pixel Feature Drop update. Recent reports suggest that the company is working on refreshing the OS with UI tweaks and new animations. Pixel Wallpaper is one of the apps that shows a new design in the latest Android 15 QPR1 beta.

Pixel Wallpaper is an app that allows you to set your favorite wallpapers and tweak other things on Pixel devices. It basically acts as a customization hub, going a bit beyond its initial goal. From there, you can change lock screen shortcuts, tweak the lock screen clock style, and more. That said, it looks like Google is revamping the Pixel Wallpaper app UI in favor of a better user experience.

Google may revamp the Pixel Wallpaper app with the first Android 15 Pixel Feature Drop

As spotted by Android Authority, the Pixel Wallpaper app looks different in Android 15 QPR1 beta. The new look isn’t available by default, but the source managed to enable it. While there are still some things that don’t work, the report gives us a hint of what we can expect. Since the changes are available in the QPR1 beta, they probably won’t be present in the first Android 15 stable build. Users would have to wait until at least December for the rollout of the first Android 15 Feature Drop.

According to the source, the new design allows switching between lock screen customization and home screen customization by swiping instead of tapping on tabs. As for lock screen clock customization, all styles will be available on a bottom sheet. Previously, you had to swipe left and right on a style carousel. The bottom sheet now also includes the lock screen clock color and size options. It looks like Google is bundling several options into that section so they’re easily accessible.

The customization section for UI color accents appears different due to the inclusion of two rows of options, rather than just one. A better zoom-in effect enhances the display of color palettes and light/dark mode previews. You can check out the differences between the current and new Pixel Wallpaper app designs in the video below.
