Google has wasted no time in delivering the first monthly update to the Pixel Tablet. The newly-released tablet is picking up the July update alongside eligible Pixel phones and the Pixel Watch. The rollout has just begun, so it may take a while before everyone gets the latest update.

The July update for the Pixel Tablet comes with the firmware build number TQ3A.230705.001.B4. Since the device lacks cellular connectivity, there’s no carrier-specific or regional build for it. According to 9to5Google, the OTA (over the air) package weighs just 23.27MB and bumps the tablet’s security patch level to July 5, 2023—this month’s security patch fixes around 50 vulnerabilities, including a few critical ones.

Pixel devices aren’t only getting the July security patch, though. Google is also pushing a couple of other changes. The official changelog states that the July update brings improvements for charging, battery usage, and thermal performance of the devices in certain conditions. Additionally, it fixes a system bug that caused the lock screen notification text to occasionally appear behind unlock UI elements.

The Pixel Tablet and other eligible Pixel phones are getting these changes. As said earlier, this is the first monthly update for the former. Google has promised to keep the device updated for up to five years from launch. During this period, it will push three major Android OS upgrades to the tablet. The Pixel Tablet debuted with Android 13 and will get updates up to Android 16.

Google’s July update will reach all eligible Pixel devices soon

As said earlier, Google has released the July update for the entire Pixel lineup. The rollout began late on Wednesday and should be available for users globally over the next few weeks. The Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 7a are getting the update with the firmware build number TQ3A.230705.001. The new build number for the Pixel Fold is TQ3C.230705.001.C1, while that for the Pixel Watch is RWDC.230705.001.

As usual, the build numbers may vary slightly in some markets or for US users on some carriers. For example, Pixel Fold users in Japan are getting the July update with the build number TQ3C.230705.001.C2. It’s TQ3C.230705.001.B1 for the Pixel Fold on Verizon and MVNOs in the US. But the changelog remains the same. Watch out for a notification about the OTA update in the coming days, or go to Settings > System > System updates to check for updates manually.
