Many Pixel users are using the Pixel At a Glance widget, which proved to be quite useful. Back in July last year, that widget got Air Quality (AQI) alerts feature. Well, now you can turn on/off Air Quality alerts in Pixel At a Glance, which was not the case from the get-go.
You can now turn on/off Air Quality alerts for Pixel At a Glance widget
Do note that Air Quality alerts appear on both the lock and home screen as a color dot and numerical value. That info appears next to the temperature in the Pixel At a Glance widget. If you tap it, you’ll be redirected to Google Search for “air quality near me”.
This feature has been improved last year in Australia, India, and the US. In those countries, it shows other nearby readings. The functionality is a bit less useful in other regions, and it may not even be available everywhere.
That being said, if you don’t want to see Air Quality alerts anymore, there’s an option to disable this feature now. Simply go to the Google Assistant settings, and navigate to ‘At a Glance’. You’ll see the ‘Air Quality’ option between the ‘Weather’ and ‘Alerts’ menus. Simply flip the switch, and you’re good to go.
Google issued this option via a server-side update
If the option is not yet available to you, you’ll have to wait for a bit. This is another server-side change issued by Google. It is not really connected to a manual update of a specific app.
The Pixel At a Glance widget is proving to be more and more useful, and we do hope Google will continue adding features to it moving forward. It is a nice little hub of information, ranging from the date and weather conditions, to Air Quality alerts and battery level of your connected earbuds.
It remains to be seen what is Google’s next step for Pixel At a Glance.
