The Pixel 7 Pro teardown video appeared on the PBKreviews YouTube channel recently. That video revealed that not much has changed when it comes to the build of the Pixel 7 Pro. What about its siblings? Well, the Pixel 7 teardown video just appeared as well, so let’s see what’s up.

The Pixel 7 teardown video reveals not much has changed since last year

This video appeared on the same channel as the Pixel 7 Pro video. It has a duration of around 5 minutes, and in it, you can see the process of both the disassembly and assembly of the Pixel 7.

Needless to say, this video can be useful if you tend to fix your phones on your own. If something needs to be changed on the inside once you’re out of warranty, or you simply need to change the back glass, this video can be helpful.

For most people, though, it’s more about curiosity. You can see exactly how the phone is assembled, and what lies on the inside. The source also gave the phone a repairability score.

The phone got a 6/10 repairability score

The Pixel 7 got a 6/10 repairability score, which is slightly better than what the Pixel 7 Pro got. As a reminder, the Pixel 7 Pro’s repairability score is 5.5/10. Its glass is difficult to remove, it’s hard to get to the main board, and so on.

So, why does the Pixel 7 stand at 6/10? Well, the source says that its USB-C charging port is soldered to the main board. Replacing the battery is also not easy, it requires removing several layers before you can access the battery’s flex cable.

All in all, this phone also features a similar build to last year’s model. The Pixel 6 also got a 6/10, by the way, so not much has changed here.

The Pixel 7 should handle heat better than its predecessor

There is one change worth noting, though. Google replaced the thermal pad over the chipset/RAM packaging with thermal paste. This should help with the heat, which is something the Pixel 6 struggled with to a degree.

That being said, we’ve reviewed both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro recently, in case you’re interested.
