Who is Outlaw Audio?
If you’re not familiar with this company, then it’s time that you become acquainted. Buying products directly from OEMs online is nothing new in our day and age, but rewind back to 1998. Amazon and other retailers weren’t as big as they are now, and the process of obtaining audio gear was more expensive than it needed to be. Back in those days, you’d usually have to go through third-party retailers, and this process saw the devices’ price marked up.
Enter Outlaw Audio. The company’s founders saw the flaws in this system, and they saw something else; they saw that the home entertainment market was about to shift. New forms of media and innovative ways of consuming said media were on their way. As the company put it, technologies like surround sound were getting their footing in that day. What did this mean? People needed their high-quality equipment to take advantage of these new forms of media and they needed it in a more convenient way. Outlaw Audio was one of the frontiers in Direct-to-customer commerce, and this was made possible by the Internet.
Another key to the company’s success was offering its high-quality devices at a competitive price compared to the competition. This was crucial, as it was going up against more established brands at the time. Well, Outlaw Audio succeeded in revolutionizing the audio market with products like the popular Model 1050 AV Receiver. It was the first 6-channel Dolby Digital AVR on the market, and it was a fan favorite.
Fast forward 25 years, and the company is still making some of the best audio equipment on the market. It’s stayed by its philosophy of honesty, simplicity, and commitment to value and customer service. It offers no inflated numbers or over-the-top claims with its products, just pure performance.

RR2160MkII Stereo Receiver
Outlaw Audio released the RR2160 over a decade ago, and it was a favorite among home theater heads. Since then, the company has revamped this device and delivered the RR2160MkII. If you don’t know what an audio receiver is, then you’ll want to if you want to get your home theater set up.
Think of the receiver as the hub that all of your audio sources go through. You’ll plug in your audio device like a turntable, CD player, ETC. It will then send the audio data from them to your speakers. Being a stereo receiver, you’ll be able to enjoy amazing 2-channel audio.
It’s not just a box to push sound from one device to another. The signal will go through some high-quality components in order to ensure clean and clear audio. The RR2160MkII Stereo Receiver comes with a phono pre-amp and a Burr Brown DAC. These will process the signal and make sure that it’s as good as the original recording when you hear the recording back.
Not grounded
One of the things about this version that makes it better than the last is the updated Internet radio. It’s been improved to accommodate modern Wi-Fi standards. This means that you can expect reliable connectivity and high-quality streaming.
Inputs a-plenty
An audio receiver is only great if it can receive a ton of audio signals. As such, there are a bunch of inputs that you can use. There are four RCA inputs (two channels each), two coaxial inputs, two optical inputs, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, USB, and HD radio. This gives you a bunch of options for what audio devices you want to hook up to the receiver.
This means that you can hook up most audio devices to the RR2160MkII Stereo Receiver, and you’ll be able to push the audio to your home speakers. Speaking of the speakers, you’re able to push the sound to two left speakers and two right speakers for a surround sound experience. Along with that, you can send the audio signal to a set of subwoofers. You’re really getting the full package with this audio receiver, and you won’t want to look for a more expensive option.
The RR2160MkII Stereo Receiver costs $999. With the discount, it will only be $749. At its original price, this device is a steal. It offers a flagship-grade experience for a price that undercuts the competition. So, with the $150 discount, you’d be a fool to pass this up!

Model 7000x 7-Channel Amplifier
Every good audio setup needs a good amp, and the Model 7000x 7-Channel Amplifier is the device you need. This too comes in at $999, which is a great price for what you’re getting. This amp is able to push a clear sound to your speakers. This is the device that boosts the audio signal so that there’s enough power for you to hear the sound coming out of your speakers.
The Model 7000x is a true surround sound amp that pushes a signal out to seven channels. So, you’re good if your surround sound setup has up to seven speakers. There’s a channel for three right speakers, one center, and three left speakers. If you’re pushing a signal to all of the channels, you’ll get 130W of power with 8Ω speakers and 200W with 4Ω speakers. So, you’ll have plenty of power to drive your audio. If you need a big sound, you sure got it!
Outlaw Audio designed this amp with a neutral sonic signature with significant headroom and reduced harmonic distortion. This way, you’ll have a clean signal resulting in amazing-sounding audio. The sound you hear will be some of the best that you’ll hear at this price. Since Outlaw Audio’s devices are relatively affordable for their price, you’re getting professional-level hardware here.
If you happen to use unbalanced inputs, don’t worry. The Model 7000x uses a differential-sensing RCA circuit. This technology reduces that annoying hum that you get with this input method.
Sleek design
This amp is designed to fit into your setup and blend into the background. As such, it has an understated design that doesn’t stick out. It has a simple boxy design with a brushed metal casing. The only light you see on it is the blue ring light at the bottom left corner. Other than that, you see the Outlaw logo and the model number printed on the face.
It’s a satisfying minimalist design, and it will fit in no matter where you place it in your setup. Outlaw Audio understands that the amp won’t exactly be the centerpiece of your surround sound setup, so there’s not much point in having a flashy design.
Inputs
Just like any audio device, the inputs are key! The Model 7000x 7-Channel Amplifier accepts RCA and XLR as input methods.

Model 5000x 5-Channel Amplifier
Let’s round out this list! The Model 7000x is a great amp, but what if your needs aren’t quite as robust? Well, there’s no shame in dialing things back a bit. Outlaw Audio also offers a more affordable amp that still provides an amazing experience. The fact of the matter is that it shares some characteristics with the 7000X model.
The 5000X comes in at $769, which is a fair bit less than the abovementioned model. With the promotion, it’ll only set you back $619.
The 5000X has the same sleek and minimalist design as the 7000X. Again, it’s perfect for fitting in with most audio setups without drawing too much attention. We still get that brushed metal with the ring light and the logos.
Much the same goes for the inputs. Just like with the 7000X model, the 5000X has both RCA and XLR inputs. The only difference is that you’re getting five channels as opposed to seven. So, you get two right channels, one center channel, and two left channels. Your setup won’t be quite as robust as with the 7000X, but it’ll still be pretty amazing.
Just like the 7000X, the 5000X has top-tier noise reduction with a neutral sonic signature and added headroom. So, you’ll still be getting the same clean sound that you’ll get with the 7000X. There’s even the differential-sensing RCA circuit to reduce the hum from unbalanced RCA input.
One of the main differences between these models is the power output. The 5000X can deliver 120W into 8Ω for each channel or 180W into 4Ω for each channel. So, you’ll be getting a bit less energy, but the difference isn’t huge.
All in all, you’ll get a similar experience either way you go. The only differences between these two models are the power output and the number of channels. Picking up the 5000X might be better if you’re just getting your surround sound system up and running.
