Recently, a tipster shared information that OPPO and OnePlus are leaving a bunch of high-profile markets in Europe, and that they may leave the European market entirely. That info was quickly shot down by both companies. Well, OPPO has not decided to further clarify its situation in Europe, well, Germany in specific.
OPPO has decided to further clarify its situation in Europe, to calm users
It seems like OPPO’s status in Europe was never in question, despite the rumors. The company did stop selling its devices in Germany last year, though, due to a patent dispute with Nokia. The same goes for OnePlus.
When the aforementioned rumor surfaced, it seemed like all negotiations between the two companies broke down. Well, that’s not the case, not at all.
OPPO shared a statement with the press in Germany, and Andreas Floemer (from t3n.de) shared it on Twitter. OPPO said: “OPPO is not leaving the German market, but the business has been put on hold due to the current injunction in the German market. OPPO is still negotiating with Nokia proactively and we believe the matter will be resolved eventually”.
So, OPPO didn’t really resolve anything with Nokia just yet, but it’s hoping to do so in the near future. Other markets in Europe, in which the company is present in, seem to be unaffected by this.
OPPO’s European headquarters is located in Germany, actually
Nokia decided to sue OPPO (and OnePlus) over 5G patents, which is why the whole situation took place. We are hoping that this dispute will be taken care of in the near future. Germany is a big market for OPPO, and that’s where the company is headquartered.
The company has big plans for Europe in general, and this situation does create some roadblocks. This situation has been going on for quite some time now, which is surprising. The two companies simply cannot reach an agreement, it would seem.
