Samsung has dozens of phones lined up for the Android 13 update in the coming months. The company is publicly testing the new Android version along with its One UI 5.0 custom software for some of those devices. For others, it’s preparing the update behind closed doors. SamMobile confirms that the Korean firm is internally testing Android 13-based One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy S10 Lite. This phone is expected to pick up the stable release in December.

The Galaxy S10 Lite is the only member of the S10 family to get Android 13. Despite being the least-specced model in the lineup, it has this advantage because it arrived almost a year later than the regular Galaxy S10 trio. Samsung launched the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ in February 2019. The phones arrived in the market in March running Android 9 Pie out of the box. The Galaxy S10 5G debuted a month later but it also came with Android 9 as Android 10 wasn’t official.

The Lite model, meanwhile, arrive in January 2020, when Android 10 was already available. As such, it debuted with the latest Android version. Since Samsung promises three generations of Android OS updates to phones launched back then, the Galaxy S10 Lite is eligible for Android 13 but the rest of the family isn’t, unfortunately. They will end their lives on Android 12. Perhaps it’s about time for users of those phones to upgrade to a newer model as they will soon stop receiving security updates too.

Galaxy S10 Lite will get the stable Android 13 update next month

Samsung doesn’t plan to open a public Android 13 beta program for the Galaxy S10 Lite. The company is testing the software internally in its labs. It will iron out any issues and bugs discovered during this test before the public rollout. As said earlier, the device is slated to receive the stable Android 13 update in December. That’s according to Samsung’s official roadmap. The roadmap also reveals that the company plans to update 20 smartphone and tablet models to Android 13 this month, at least in some markets.

As of now, Samsung’s Android 13 update has only rolled out to the Galaxy S22 series. The latest flagships picked up the new Android version last month. The rollout has already reached most markets around the world. It’s now only a matter of time before the company releases the update for other eligible devices in a flurry. We will keep you updated with all those rollouts.
