OnePlus has started beta testing Android 13 for its devices. The company has announced a Developer Preview Program for the OnePlus 10 Pro. It gives users access to an early build of its custom software based on Android 13.
According to an announcement on the OnePlus forums, the first Android 13 beta build for the OnePlus 10 Pro is only meant for developers and other advanced users. The company recommends average users avoid flashing the beta software on their daily driver. It explicitly warns that there’s a risk of “bricking your phone”, so only proceed if you know what you are doing.
As expected, this beta build is quite unstable. OnePlus notes that certain features and device functions may not always work as intended. It contains a lot of known bugs too. The company says you cannot access Shelf, move documents in My Files, or record voice to active Voice awake on the Start-up navigation page. Some ORoaming features may be unstable too.
On top of this, installing the Android 13 beta on your OnePlus 10 Pro will also wipe all your data. So only install the beta software if you have created a backup of your data and are fine dealing with the aforementioned bugs and issues day in and day out.
Make sure to keep at least 30 percent of battery charge on your OnePlus 10 Pro before installing the new software package. Also, ensure you have at least 4GB of storage space available. Note that T-Mobile and Verizon carrier variants of the phone are not eligible for the Android 13 Developer Preview Program.
