According to a new report, OnePlus is aiming to launch its first foldable smartphone in August. This information comes from Max Jambor, who frequently shares OnePlus-related information.
The very first OnePlus foldable smartphone could launch in August
OnePlus did confirm that its foldable smartphone is coming earlier this year, but it did not specify when exactly. Well, if this rumor is to be believed, we won’t have to wait for that long, only a couple of extra months.
We’re not sure if the company plans to announce one or two foldables. A book-style foldable is probably coming, but OnePlus trademarked two names earlier this year. The OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus V Flip names got trademarked.
Needless to say, the ‘Fold’ refers to the book-style foldable, while the ‘Flip’ refers to the clamshell foldable. It remains to be seen what are OnePlus’ plans in this regard.
More and more companies are pushing their foldable phones to global markets
One thing is for sure, though, the company will have some competition in the market. More and more smartphone OEMs are releasing foldable devices to global markets. Truth be said, the competition is way more fierce in China in that regard, but it’s nice to see more devices coming to global markets.
In the book-style foldable segment, we have the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which will be official by then, or launch soon after. The Huawei Mate X3 will be announced globally by then, the HONOR Magic Vs arrived, and more.
Things are even more fierce in the clamshell foldable space. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is coming, the Huawei P50 Pocket is available, the OPPO Find N2 Flip launched earlier this year, and two Motorola-branded clamshell foldable phones are also coming.
If this OnePlus smartphone, or smartphones, end up having a great price tag, people could be pursued to get them. The price will play a huge role here, that’s for sure. Needless to say, the company’s foldable smartphone(s) will be powerful, but we don’t have the specifics yet.
