OnePlus is now rolling out a bug-fixing update to several of its phones, including the OnePlus 8 series, 8T, and 9R. This update is here mainly to patch up bugs that got introduced by May 2022 security patches. General improvements are included as well, though.
The OnePlus 8 series, OnePlus 8T & OnePlus 9R are getting a new bug-fixing update
This update is marked as OxygenOS C.21, and it’s coming to all of these smartphones. Do note that the changelog is the same for all four devices (the OnePlus 8 series includes the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, of course).
So, what’s changed? Well, the general system stability has been improved with this update. In addition to that, three fixes are named here. OnePlus seems to have fixed the issue which caused the screen to act abnormally after locking.
It also fixes the issue with gesture operations working abnormally after enabling the Quick launch. The last fix that is named has to do with the camera. This update fixes the issue that made the camera crash after opening Ultra Steady mode in certain scenarios.
The update is rolling out in India, but it’ll spread to more markets soon
The update has started rolling out in India, but it’s going to spread to other markets as well. It’s possible it already started rolling out elsewhere, in fact, so keep an eye out.
This update doesn’t deliver any major changes, but fixes and optimizations are always nice to see, that’s for sure. Most of these issues didn’t really affect all that many users, as they appeared only in specific scenarios. Still, the less bugs the better.
This update is rolling out over the air (OTA), and it’s rolling out in stages. That essentially means it will take some time to roll out to everyone. You may have to wait a bit to get it. Your phone will let you know once it’s available, but you can also check manually via the Settings.
