OnePlus has started rolling out a new update to the OnePlus 12, its current flagship. This update improves the face scanning feature on the OnePlus 12, while it also improves battery life and more.

Let’s start from the top, though. The update is marked as CPH2573_14.0.0.840(EX01), and it weighs 1.25GB. The rollout started in India, but it will quickly spread to other markets. This update does contain the August 2024 Android security patch, which is always nice to see.
The official changelog has only four entries (one of which is the security patch), but users have reported some additional changes. In regards to the official changelog, it says that the update adds a switch to show or hide media playback info in the status bar.
This update also improves the user experience of scrolling screenshots. Notifications and Live Alerts messages won’t pop up and floating windows won’t be displayed when you take a scrolling screenshot.
The last entry says that the face verification feature has bene optimized in order to “ensure a higher level of security”.

Now, Gizmochina also reports that users have noticed several additional fixes. For some users, the OnePlus 12 was getting a bit too hot, though we’re not sure under what circumstances, we’ve never had such problems. Either way, that issue has seemingly been fixed.
Fixes for Gmail problems are also mentioned, and the same goes for battery life. Some users apparently had issues with the battery drain, but that has now been fixed too.
As per usual, this update is rolling out in stages. Just because the rollout started doesn’t mean it will land on your device straight away. You may have to wait a bit in order to get it. You can also always manually check whether the update is available via the settings.
