The OnePlus 11 is coming to succeed the OnePlus 10 Pro. You will notice that we mentioned the OnePlus 11, and not the OnePlus 11 Pro. Well, it seems like a direct successor to the OnePlus 10 Pro will lose the ‘Pro’ name, even though it will essentially be a ‘Pro’ device. The OnePlus 11 is said to be the only flagship the company will announce as part of the series, at least in the first half of 2023.
We’re not sure why OnePlus is going for that change, nor has the change been confirmed just yet. It seems like the company will stick to one flagship strategy, though. The OnePlus 10 Pro also launched as a solo device in January 2022. The OnePlus 10T arrived in the second half of the year. Having said that, the OnePlus 11 is shaping up to be an interesting smartphone, so let’s see what can we expect out of it.
This article will be regularly updated with new information on the OnePlus 11 (this is a preview article) — both official teasers and credible leaks, rumors, and insider claims — as it becomes available in the run-up to the release of the upcoming Android smartphone. The last update was made on December 5, 2022.
The OnePlus 11 will offer a familiar design
The OnePlus 11 design leaked quite a while ago. To be more accurate, its CAD-based renders appeared back in the first half of September. Following that, the same source delivered our first look at the final OnePlus 11 design, showing us the device in both color options. You can check out all those images in the gallery below. These images came from a reliable source, so chances are they’re accurate. It doesn’t seem like OnePlus will be making any drastic changes compared to the OnePlus 10 Pro.
If you check out the images, you’ll notice that the camera island on the back will look a bit different, but it’s not a complete design change, not at all. We’re seeing three cameras inside that camera island, along with an LED flash. You’ll also notice that the Hasselblad branding is included in the middle, as expected. OnePlus partnered up with Hasselblad with the OnePlus 9 series, for the first time, and that partnership is still alive.
An alert slider will be included
An alert slider will be a part of the package, as it will be located on the right-hand side, above the power/lock key. That means that the volume buttons will sit on the left side of the phone. The device will be made out of metal and glass, seemingly, while its display will be curved. A display camera hole will once again sit in the top-left corner, and the bezels surrounding the display will be quite minimal.
The specs will be quite powerful, as expected
Considering the OnePlus 11 will be the only device in the series, it will be immensely powerful. This will likely be the company’s most powerful device throughout the year, counting in the T series phone that will likely launch in H2 2023. Having said that, its specifications did surface already. Let’s start with the display. A 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display will be in use here, it seems. That display will be curved, and include a display camera hole in the top-left corner. It will also be an LTPO panel with an adaptive refresh rate.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be paired with up to 16GB of RAM
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will fuel the phone, OnePlus confirmed it. In other words, the OnePlus 11 will be fueled by Qualcomm’s flagship SoC. The phone will pack up to 16GB of RAM, and we’re guessing OnePlus will utilize LPDDR5X RAM here. When it comes to storage, the company will likely offer up to 256GB, or perhaps even 512GB. OnePlus may utilize brand new UFS 4.0 flash storage, or stick with UFS 3.1. Don’t expect storage expansion to be a part of the offering, though.
100W charging is also expected
A 5,000mAh battery was also mentioned, as expected. When it comes to OnePlus flagships, you always expect really fast charging. Well, things won’t exactly be different this time around. The OnePlus 11 is said to offer 100W fast wired charging, compared to 80W charging the OnePlus 10 Pro offered. The OnePlus 10T still trumps that, but 100W is blazing fast. We’re also expecting 50W wireless charging to be a part of the package, and reverse wireless charging as well.
There will be three cameras on the back of the phone
What about the cameras? Well, the phone is said to utilize three cameras on the back. A 50-megapixel main, wide-angle camera (Sony’s IMX890 sensor) will be included. That camera will be backed by a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera (Sony’s IMX581 sensor), and a 32-megapixel telephoto camera (Sony’s IMX709 sensor, 2x optical zoom). Hasselblad will be included in the picture as well, as the company will help with the color science, and hopefully various other aspects of the photo-taking experience.
Android 13 will come pres-installed on the device, along with OxygenOS 13. A certification over at Bluetooth SIG also confirmed that the phone will support Bluetooth 5.3.
The OnePlus 11 is coming in the first quarter of next year
So, when will the OnePlus 11 become official? Well, a tipster said it’s coming in Q1 2023, which is something we already knew. We don’t have any specific info, but we can guess, actually. The OnePlus 10 Pro launched in January, in China. The global launch followed at the end of March, while the phone went on sale in April. We presume something similar will happen with the OnePlus 11. Unfortunately, the device may first make an appearance in China. We’re not sure why OnePlus changed things around with the OnePlus 10 Pro, but there you have it. OnePlus’ previous flagships always launched globally from the get-go, they didn’t have a China launch first.
Two color options coming
Based on what we know thus far, the OnePlus 11 will be on offer in only two color options, at least at first. Matte Black and Glossy Green color variants are coming. The backplate on the first model will be matte, while it will be glossy on the second one, as their names suggest. One rumor suggested that a ceramic model may be coming as well, but that won’t happen.
Chances are it will cost less than $1,000
What about the phone’s price tag? Well, the OnePlus 10 Pro’s base model was priced at $899, and it’s quite possible OnePlus will keep the OnePlus 11 in the same lane. We’re expecting a price tag at around $800-$900 for the device. In fact, the company may keep the exact same price as the OnePlus 10 Pro.
