The OnePlus 10 Pro is the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone. This device is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2021, though it may launch a lot sooner than initially expected. That is something we’ll cover in this OnePlus 10 Pro preview, along with a lot of other things. The OnePlus 10 Pro has been leaking for a while now, and we do have some information to share at this point.

The OnePlus 10 Pro will become the company’s second-gen smartphone with Hasselblad optics, and this time around the company will have a lot more influence in the camera department. The expectations are high for this smartphone, needless to say, so let’ see what can you expect out of it. Below, we’ll talk about its design, specs, cameras, and various other aspects.

This article will be regularly updated with new information on the OnePlus 10 Pro (this is a preview article) — both official teasers and credible leaks, rumors, and insider claims — as it becomes available in the run-up to the release of the upcoming Android smartphone. The last update was made on December 10.

The OnePlus 10 Pro design will be inspired by the Galaxy S21 series

The OnePlus 10 Pro design leaked already. The phone appeared in CAD-based renders, which revealed its design from pretty much all sides. Based on those, we know exactly what to expect. The OnePlus 10 Pro seems to be inspired by the Galaxy S21, to a degree. Why do I say that? Well, mainly because of its rear camera design. The casing for that camera seems to protrude from the phone’s frame, which is the approach that Samsung used with the Galaxy S21 series. Samsung is the only company to have used such a design.

The phone’s frame seems to be made out of metal, while glass is applied on the back. The camera setup does protrude a bit, while the Hasselblad logo is also noticeable on the camera housing, as shown below. OnePlus’ logo sits on the back of the phone, while both the front and the back of the device are curved towards the sides. A display camera hole sits in the top-left corner of the display, while the display itself is curved.

The bezels on this phone are minimal, as it’s clearly noticeable in the provided images. The power/lock button sits on the right side, along with an alert slider. The volume up and down buttons are located on the left. A Type-C USB port is included at the bottom, along with the main speaker grille. An audio jack is not a part of the package, in case you were wondering. The phone is said to measure 163.2 x 73.6 x 8.7mm.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 coupled with 12GB of RAM, 125W charging & more

The OnePlus 10 Pro will, needless to say, have really powerful specs. The company’s CEO confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will fuel the device. That is Qualcomm’s brand new processor, its flagship processor. Various other specs did surface. The OnePlus 10 Pro is said to feature a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display. That will be an LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will offer a variable refresh rate, hence the LTPO part, which should reflect on the battery, it should be able to offer better battery life because of it.

When it comes to RAM, 8GB and 12GB RAM models are expected, and OnePlus will use LPDDR5 RAM here. The company will offer 128GB and 256GB storage options with those two RAM setups, respectively. OnePlus will use UFS 3.1 flash storage here, most likely. A 5,000mAh battery will also be included in the package, and fast charging will also be supported. 125W fast wired charging is rumored, along with 50W wireless charging.

Android 12 will come pre-installed on the phone, along with the company’s custom UI. This handset will also be IP68 certified, it will be water and dust resistant. 5G connectivity will be supported, thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the included 5G modem, and you’ll also get two SIM card slots inside the phone. Two nano SIM card slots will be included, almost certainly. Storage expansion, on the other hand, won’t be on offer.

Hasseblad’s camera influence should be even more noticeable this time around

Many people are probably interested in the OnePlus 10 Pro cameras. The OnePlus 9 Pro did underwhelm with its camera offerings, at least out of the box. OnePlus managed to improve those cameras quite a bit via updates. The hardware was always good, but they needed some tweaking. One notable thing about those cameras is that they offered great colors, as Hasselblad color-tuned them. Hasselblad is expected to have a much bigger role to play this time around.

Considering that fact, we do expect notable improvements in the camera department. Cameras on OnePlus flagships have been quite good for years, but never quite the best in class. The OnePlus 10 Pro could bring major improvements in the camera department. So, what’s expected when it comes to hardware? The OnePlus 10 Pro is said to offer three cameras on the back, and one on the front.

A 48-megapixel main camera will allegedly be included, which is interesting, as we were expecting a 50-megapixel one. A 50-megapixel ultrawide camera will also be a part of the package, along with an 8-megapixel telephoto unit. A 32-megapixel selfie shooter was also mentioned in the latest leaks. A periscope camera may be excluded altogether.

The OnePlus 10 Pro may launch as early as January

So, when can you expect the OnePlus 10 Pro to become official? We initially thought it will arrive in March or April, a year after the OnePlus 9 series. Well, that may not be the case. More and more sources are indicating the phone may arrive in January instead. A well-known tipster revealed that OnePlus will host a press event on January 5 in Las Vegas, as part of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021.

OnePlus CES invite leak

That may seem a bit early, but an earlier report suggested that the device may launch in January or February in China, followed by the global launch in March or April. Well, it’s possible OnePlus changed its mind, and it wants to be fair towards everything, hence planning a launch in January to launch it globally from the get-go, as it has done in previous years. It remains to be seen.

The OnePlus 10 Pro is expected to launch alongside its sibling, the OnePlus 10. That device hasn’t even leaked yet, so we really don’t know what to expect, but it will likely resemble the OnePlus 10 Pro.
