OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the OnePlus 10 Pro will break cover next month. Lau also revealed that the phone would pack an LTPO 2.0 display. He said this display technology would enable a smoother overall experience than LTPS OLED panels.

Lau gave out the information on Chinese social media platform Weibo (via GSMArena). LTPO or low-temperature polycrystalline oxide technology allows a display to offer variable refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz while consuming significantly lesser power. Samsung is seemingly supplying these display panels to OnePlus.

Pete Lau has previously confirmed the presence of Qualcomm’s latest silicon on the OnePlus 10 Pro

Unlike other manufacturers, OnePlus has been forthcoming about some of the hardware features donning the new OnePlus 10 Pro. We’ve learned so far that the flagship will feature a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED screen with the aforementioned LTPO 2.0 technology.

Additionally, the CEO has already confirmed the presence of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. In classic OnePlus fashion, the device could feature impressive fast-charging speeds. Reports say the OnePlus 10 Pro’s 5,000mAh battery will support charging speeds of up to 80W. Rumors have also hinted at 125W fast charging, though it seems unlikely at this point.

A triple camera is rumored for the OnePlus 10 Pro comprising a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The manufacturer’s partnership with Hasselblad will continue with the new flagship, enabling advanced camera capabilities. The rumored periscope camera is unlikely to make the cut with this flagship. Meanwhile, the company will use a 32-megapixel front camera on the OnePlus 10 Pro.

Users would choose between 128GB and 256GB of storage plus 8GB and 12GB of RAM. In line with its predecessors, the OnePlus 10 Pro won’t offer storage expansion. Customers can expect Android 12 to run by default with the latest iteration of OxygenOS.

While OnePlus usually unveils its flagship in March or April, the company could break with tradition by launching the OnePlus 10 Pro in early January 2022. The manufacturer is even sending out invites for an event on January 5 in Las Vegas, suggesting that the device could be showcased during CES 2022.

With just around two weeks left for the flagship’s release, we expect more information to come our way in the next few days. Stay tuned.
