Samsung‘s One UI 6 Watch beta is live for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 series. Like the Galaxy Watch 6, these wearables are receiving the beta update in South Korea and the US. The company is unlikely to expand the beta program to other countries.

Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 4 get One UI 6 Watch beta

One UI 6 Watch is an upgraded version of Samsung’s custom smartwatch platform based on Wear OS. It runs Wear OS 5 at its core, with customizations and add-ons from the Korean firm. Ahead of a public rollout, the company is testing the big update for older eligible models—all of its Wear OS watches are eligible for One UI 6 Watch.

The Galaxy Watch 6 series got its first beta update around three weeks back. The 2023 lineup recently picked up a second beta build as well. Now, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 series have joined the party. Samsung might be pushing the same build as the Watch 6’s second one to the older models. It fixes most of the bugs and stability issues in the first build, giving users a more reliable experience.

To join the beta program, open the Samsung Members app on your connected smartphone and sign up from there. The update should be available to download over the air shortly after you sign up. Some users say they are getting error messages when trying to sign up. Hopefully, Samsung will fix the issues soon. Note that the update may not be available to everyone at the same time.

With this expansion, almost all eligible Samsung watches have received the One UI 6 Watch beta. The newly launched Galaxy Watch FE is the only one missing. It is unclear if the company plans to open a beta program for its first-ever Fan Edtion smartwatch, which is essentially a copy of the Galaxy Watch 4. It may not have sold enough units to warrant a separate beta program. The Galaxy Watch FE will surely get the stable update, though.

Samsung’s upcoming watches will run the new One UI version out of the box

Samsung beta One UI 6 Watch beta testing for its smartwatches just weeks before the launch of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. The new watches arrive on July 10 and are expected to run the new One UI version out of the box. Since the upcoming models boast a more powerful processor and other hardware upgrades, they could get some exclusive AI features too. Just over a week to go before Samsung’s big launch event in Paris.
