Carl Pei and the Nothing released the Nothing Phone (2) not too long ago. The phone came with a new Android skin called Nothing OS 2, but people using the first-gen hardware have been waiting. Well, according to a post from Carl Pei, Nothing OS 2 is starting to roll out to the Nothing Phone (1).
From what Carl Pei said during an interview last year, it was a struggle getting the manpower to really make Nothing OS a unique Android skin. The company was having trouble getting developers on board to work on the software. This is why the first version of Nothing OS looked like stock Android 11.
However, with a phone (now two phones) and several pairs of TWS earbuds under its belt, Nothing has acquired many more people to work on the software. This is why so many folks are excited about Nothing OS’s next iteration.
Nothing OS 2 is making its way to the Nothing Phone (1)
In a short and sweet tweet, Carl Pei explained that the company has begun rolling out the new version of Nothing OS. The Nothing Phone (2) launched 42 days ago, and Phone (1) users have been waiting for the new version since then. That was a hefty wait, but this sort of thing happens all the time.
So, what’s new with Nothing Os 2? The overall look and feel of the software is very different from Nothing OS 1. Nothing’s dot matrix aesthetic is more prevalent throughout the software this time around. This, coupled with the monochromatic (with the exception of a splash of red here and there), gives the phone a specifically “Nothing” feel.
We’ve now began rolling out Nothing OS 2 for Phone (1). Thanks for everyone’s patience! As our capabilities strengthen, we’ll be able to pull in the time gap over time.

Carl Pei mentioned that the big focus of Nothing OS 2 would be on the home screen. This time around the company brought some changes to the home screen widgets with some new additions. There’s an analog clock widget. Also, there are some quick settings widgets that give you access to a bunch of your quick settings right on the home screen. There are also lock screen widgets.
There are several options for the folders as well. You can choose from different folders like the classic square folder, but you can also do a circular folder. There’s even the option to have folders and icons as the cover rather than the apps.
Moving onto more features, Nothing OS lets you run multiple instances of the same app. Also, you can designate essential notifications. When that notification is active, the Glyph Interface will light up, letting you know that it’s important.
Those are just a few of the many new features coming with Nothing Os 2. So, if you have the Nothing Phone (1), then you should stand by for the new update coming soon.
