Speculation that James Gunn‘s new role as co-CEO of DC Studios may lead to a crossover of MCU stars continues as fans theorize about who will land a plum role in Superman: Legacy.
A fan took to the r/DC_Cinematic subreddit to rule out the possibility of Chris Pratt playing Krypto in favor of a more likely candidate, the newly minted studio boss’s brother, Sean Gunn.
With Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm, DC Studios is making Superman the main focus. The revamp of the character started with the dismissal of Henry Cavill from the coveted role of the Man of Steel. Gunn revealed that he was in the process of writing the script for Superman: Legacy, based on the Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly comic book series All-Star Superman, and has since confirmed that he will personally direct the movie. Over the weekend, he announced that a Guardians of the Galaxy cast member is starring in his DCU debut film, sparking a heated debate on Twitter as fans fervently pondered who it might be.
Some fans have no issue with Sean Gunn making the leap from the MCU to the DCU with his brother.

Even if Sean Gunn doesn’t sign up for future motion capture performances, he might still be willing to do voice-overs. It may still be too soon to count him out of the running to play Krypto. On the other hand, Chris Pratt is a box office failsafe who might help ensure DCU dominance. But would he be willing to settle for anything less than top billing? Time will tell who the elder Gunn is taking along for the ride.
Superman: Legacy will be released on July 11, 2025.
