The Nintendo Switch 2 has yet to receive its big reveal but that might be changing pretty soon. Several years after the original Nintendo Switch was launched, fans are wondering when Nintendo’s next console is going to hit the market. Past rumors pegged the device as launching sometime in late 2024, somewhere close to the holiday season. Nintendo then suggested its next console wouldn’t be launching until sometime in 2025 after rumors of a delay started circulating. That still left time for Nintendo to at least reveal the new console.
Some have speculated this could be happening sometime before the end of the year. Now, a new rumor suggests that Nintendo is planning to reveal the Switch 2 in September. Having said that, it may or may not be a complete reveal of the console. If Nintendo doesn’t launch the Switch 2 until at least April of next year, then there are at least 8 months between now and then. And that’s more than enough time to get fans hyped with a partial reveal this month while doing a full reveal closer to the launch.
The Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t have a specific date
While there are no specific dates mentioned, the rumor states that something Nintendo-related is happening soon. Gameindustry.biz’s Christopher Dring noted on X that there were “industry whispers floating around” about something “Switch 2-related” this month. Heavily suggesting that Nintendo is planning to announce shortly. It’s still the beginning of the month, of course, so even if Nintendo does officially announce the console this month, a reveal could still be weeks away.
The original Nintendo Switch was announced in October 2016. So it can’t be ruled out that Nintendo may want to save a Switch 2 reveal for the same month.
Will Nintendo share details of the console’s hardware and features?
That’s tough to say. If a reveal does happen this month, Nintendo might just keep most details under wraps for now. Leaving consumers with a name and potentially the final design. Several rumors have trickled out about what the console could offer. Including new Joy-Con controllers that attach magnetically to the main console unit, as opposed to the locking rail system used on the original Switch. It’s also been rumored that the Switch 2 will offer performance that’s comparable to the Steam Deck.
