One of the most popular Android Launchers, the Niagara Launcher, has just been further polished thanks to a ‘Spring-Clean’ update. Do note that this is a beta update for now, but it will roll out to the stable channel in about two weeks.
If you’re not a beta tester yet, you can become one, without a problem. If you’d like to learn more about that, click here. For all the rest, simply wait for two weeks, and you’ll get this update.
‘Spring-Clean’ update further polishes the Niagara Launcher
So, what’s new? Well, Niagara Launcher will not inform you about rarely used apps you’ve placed in ‘Favorites’. This will happen when you enter the edit screen, it won’t bother you elsewhere. The whole point of this is for you to declutter, of course. You can also quickly sort apps by usage here. This launcher now also features a new dialog that lists your most recently installed apps.
Another really nifty feature that has been added has to do with haptic feedback. In short, when scrolling through the alphabet scrollbar on the right, you can get some haptic feedback. This is not the only place that this has been added, but it’s the most notable one. If you don’t like this, you can disable haptic feedback entirely in the app’s settings. Also, do note that this feature will only work with devices that support light vibrations.
A number of smaller changes have been made
Quite a few smaller changes were made too, many of which are bug fixes. Custom fonts will not be automatically scaled up or down, as needed. In Android 12, apps will not show a splash screen with their icon when loading.
A new bootup animation has been added, while the widget freezing bug has been fixed. Those of you who own a Xiaomi phone may have had issues with the dark mode, if that was the case, it should be fixed now.
A number of additional changes have been issued. You can check out the full list in the company’s post on Medium.
