Sony has confirmed its next PlayStation State of Play livestream event and it takes place this week on January 31, with extended looks at two huge upcoming games including Stellar Blade.

The event will have over 40 minutes of gameplay reveals and footage, and cover a total of 15 different games. Some of these games will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 in 2024. Not all games will be launching this year, however. Sony confirms that some titles aren’t coming until later. “We’ll give you a new look at other titles coming to PS5 and PS VR2 in 2024 and beyond,” Sony says. It’s the “and beyond” part you want to pay attention to here.

Sony isn’t giving any hard dates but it’s confirming that tomorrow will show off games that are expected to launch sometime after this year. This could mean games coming in 2025 or even later. With that in mind, there is a chance that the livestream might include first looks at new games. Though it’s just as possible that all the games have already been announced. And anything shown tomorrow will just be additional footage and information.

Stellar Blade is one of two big games in tomorrow’s State of Play

Stellar Blade is a highly anticipated game set for a release on PlayStation 5 in the future. It was first revealed back in 2019 as Project Eve. The entirety of its reveal was one big trailer revolving around the game’s gorgeous combat and visuals. And since then players have been chomping at the bit to get anything more. Stellar Blade still doesn’t have an official release date. So players are hoping that Sony might reveal this information tomorrow as part of the extended look at the game.

Stellar Blade isn’t the only big game getting extended footage. Tomorrow’s event will also showcase an extended look at Rise of the Ronin. This will be an upcoming action role-playing game from Team Ninja (Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty) set in 1860s Japan. It leans heavily into the theme of being a ronin and will let players shape the story based on choices they make and who they ally with.

It’s also a game you’ll likely want to pick up if you liked Ghost of Tsushima or Nioh. Sony confirms in its official PlayStation Blog post that the State of Play event will be available to watch on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok, and it’ll start at 2 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Or 5 p.m. if you live on the East Coast.
