Samsung has fixed the display issue on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The company has released a new software update to its latest flagships, fixing the weird display bug on the Exynos 2200-powered Ultra model that many users have been reporting over the past few days. Affected units were showing a pixelated line across the width of the display in the top half.

This update also brings the March 2022 Android security patch to the Galaxy S22 trio. These are the first smartphones globally to receive the new SMR (security maintenance release). Many OEMs have yet to roll out the February patch to their devices. But Samsung is in a league of its own when it comes to security updates. Of course, Google has yet to detail the content of next month’s SMR. We might not have those details until the second week of March.

In addition to the updated SMR and display fix for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the new Samsung flagships could also be receiving some optimizations and other bug fixes with the latest release. There may be some stability and performance improvements as well. We will let you know if there’s any notable new feature here once we have the confirmation. Note that Samsung has promised a separate update to fix some performance issues on its new flagships. That should be rolling out in the coming days or weeks.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra are currently receiving an update with firmware version S90xBXXU1AVBF (via). The rollout has just begun in Europe and may take a few days before it reaches units globally.

Has Samsung already released two software updates to the Galaxy S22 trio?

You might recall that the Galaxy S22 series received its first software update yesterday with a different firmware version and the February security patch. But we don’t believe Samsung has rolled out two updates to its new phones in two days. It could be the same update in different regions. In that case, those who received the update with the February SMR will likely receive a new update in the coming weeks. Perhaps Samsung’s promised performance fixes will arrive with the March security patch in those regions.

Nonetheless, if you’re using either of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra, you should receive a new software update anytime now if you haven’t already. The OTA (over the air) package weighs over 800MB.
