Aftersun New On Netflix This Week June 21st 2024

Picture: A24

Happy weekend! Welcome to your weekly rundown of everything that was added to Netflix in the United States over the past seven days. We’ll look at some highlights, the full list of 28 new titles, and what’s been trending in the Netflix top 10s all week.

If you’re looking for more on what’s coming up on Netflix, we just got the full expanded list of what’s on the way throughout July 2024 here. Speaking of looking ahead, only one title is scheduled to join Netflix, and that’s the first season of Rising Impact, a new anime golf series.

Best New Releases on Netflix This Weekend

Aftersun (2022)

Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Drama
Director: Charlotte Wells
Cast: Paul Mescal, Frankie Corio, Celia Rowlson-Hall
Writer: Charlotte Wells
Runtime: 102 min / 1h 42m

Nominated for an Oscar, the critically acclaimed A24 movie Aftersun drops on Netflix today for the first time.

The British movie focuses on Sophie, who recalls through memories and her camera footage the bonds created with her father when she was 11 years old in Turkey on vacation.

The addition of Aftersun brings the total number of A24 movies currently on Netflix to nine. Another, The Inspection, will be released on July 18th next month.

Dexter (Seasons 1-8)

Number of episodes: 96
Rating: TV-MA
Language: English
Genre: Crime, Drama, Mystery
Cast: Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, David Zayas
Writer: James Manos Jr.
Runtime: 53 min

As we first reported, Dexter has returned to Netflix after being removed from the platform several years ago. Michael C. Hall puts in a performance of a lifetime playing a blood spatter analyst in Miami while also concealing a deadly secret: he’s a serial killer but one with a conscience.

The series makes for an excellent binge, although, in my honest opinion, stopping after the fourth season credits roll isn’t a bad shout.

Beverly Hills Cop Trilogy

If you think we’re going mad, don’t worry—we’re not. Yes, the Beverly Hills Cop movies have been cycling on and off like yo-yos from the Netflix library over the past year in the build-up to the fourth movie, which is dropping exclusively on Netflix for Independence Day.

Given that we’re so close to that fourth movie now, there’s no better time to relive all three Eddie Murphy movies, as they all return to Netflix for the weekend.
