Netflix has been making a few small but important changes lately. Netflix has announced that it will roll out a revamped UI for its TV app, featuring a modern-looking homepage. If you watch Netflix on TV, you’ll see a bunch of UI changes in the coming weeks or months.

Netflix has announced a revamped UI for its TV app

Today, in an announcement blog post, the company mentioned that the revamped UI will make the “TV homepage simpler and more intuitive.” Netflix Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim says that the new change will help viewers “easily find shows, movies, live events, and games that they’ll love.” So, what’s changed?

The revamped UI adds a huge banner at the front and center of Netflix’s TV app. The streaming giant says that this banner will recommend something you might want to watch. After you scroll down, you’ll access rows with different collections of things recommended for you.

These rows will include things like “Your Next Watch,” “Today’s Top Picks for You,” or “Only on Netflix.” If a show or movie has won awards or is trending worldwide, the revamped UI will show them under callouts like “Emmy Award Winner” or “#1 in TV Shows” in the Netflix TV app. These tags, or callouts as Netflix calls them, will offer you extra information about why you might want to watch specific content.

The revamped UI also moves shortcuts from the left sidebar to a section available at the top of the screen. Kim also said that the new UI will give users “a more flexible canvas, now and in the future.” The Netflix TV app could make it easier for you to find things like live content and games streamed to your TV. Not to forget, Netflix is also adding a new “responsive recommendations” to your homepage that suits your “moods and interests in the moment.”

Netflix on mobile is also getting some changes

Besides the revamped design of the TV app, Netflix is also making some changes to the mobile experience. One of the notable features is AI-powered search. The new search experience will use ChatGPT to offer users a conversational experience. The feature will roll out this week to iOS users as an opt-in beta. Moreover, Netflix is also testing a vertical video feed for mobile. You can watch your favorite content, add it to My Lists, and even share it with your friends.
