Netflix is getting the sequel to 2017’s Woody Woodpecker movie, with it set to arrive on the streamer globally on April 12th, 2024.
The first Woody Woodpecker movie first hit theaters in select markets via Universal Pictures in 2017 and was released everywhere else as a direct-to-DVD entry. It was released under Universal’s 1440 Entertainment banner.
The first movie has been licensed to Netflix in select regions over the past few years, with some regions even carrying the movie as a Netflix Original title. It was licensed to Netflix last September, but it was removed on January 1st. It even found relative success in the Netflix top 10s. For instance, it spent 29 days in the Netflix US kids’ movies top 10 and over 100 days in the Brazillian equivalent.
While it received mostly negative reviews, it obviously did enough to warrant a sequel, which went into development back in 2021 with filming, according to 7News Melbourne, taking place from late 2021 onwards.
Back then, 7NEWS Melbourne attached the movie to Netflix, although Universal or the streamer made no official announcement.

It was announced alongside a slew of other family titles for release in 2024, including The Casagrandes Movie, Spellbound, and Damsel.
Jon Rosenbaum is directing and serving as executive producer on the project. Cory Edwards, Jim Martin, and Stephen Mazur serve as writers on Woody Woodpecker Going to Camp, with Jon Kuyper producing.
