It’s been nine long years since Google unveiled the third-gen Nest Learning Thermostat. Now, it looks like the tech giant is all set to launch its next iteration (4th-gen), courtesy of recently leaked promo materials and renders of the device. The leaked materials and renders offer a close look at the 4th-gen Nest Learning Thermostat revealing its sleek new design, features, and price.
The leaked renders and promo materials reveal a new UI and two colors of the upcoming thermostat
The news comes via prominent leaker @MysteryLupin. The user recently posted a bunch of renders of the 4th-gen Nest Learning Thermostat on X (formerly Twitter). The renders shared by the user showcase the thermostat’s big display, rounded and sleek design in its full glory. The users also shared leaked promotional materials for the upcoming Nest Thermostat that highlights its stainless steel casing with a high-resolution borderless display.
The upcoming device appears to feature rotating controls just like the original Nest Thermostat. The leaked material also hints that the new thermostat will launch with a new UI offering it a modernized look. Plus, it will allow users to make the most out of the bigger display. You can also customize the time, temperature, and weather that are visible on the home screen. The thermostat is visible in two colors, one looks to be Black, and the other one looks like a Bronze color.
The 4th-gen Nest Learning Thermostat’s leaked energy-saving features and price
Talking of energy-saving features, the 4th-gen Nest Learning Thermostat could come with Adaptive Eco, Natural heating and cooling, Smart Ventilation, and Smart Scheule with Saving Fingers. However, some of these would only work with a compatible HVAC ventilation system. For those wondering, the Adaptive Eco feature will trigger the thermostat to automatically switch to an “energy-efficient temperature.” This would eventually save power and keep things comfortable for you when you’re back at your place.
Besides, the new Smart Schedule learns the temperature you like and adjusts the schedule from the Google Home app. It also suggests a few tweaks that will help you save power and electricity bills. A new feature called “Dynamic Farsight” is also listed in the leaked promo materials. However, the exact purpose of the same is unclear. Notably, the thermostat would work with any Matter-enabled smart home app. Therefore, you are not limited to using the Google Home app to control it.
As @MysteryLupin points out, the feature-loaded Nest Learning Thermostat (4th-gen) could cost $279 which is higher than its predecessor. However, the new price is justifiable as you’ll get the new 2nd-gen Nest Temperature Sensor alongside it.
The thermostat could launch on August 13
Now that the leaked promo materials are out in the wild, Google may be planning to launch the 4th-gen Nest Learning Thermostat at the Made by Google event scheduled for August 13. Worth noting, the tech giant will unveil the Google Pixel 9 series at the same event. So, if you’ve been planning to get a thermostat for yourself, it is worth waiting.
