YouTube star Jimmie Donaldson, popularly known as MrBeast, has hit back on The Verge after the publication made insolent remarks on his sponsorship deal with Samsung. He said that the Korean firm is getting arguably the best return on investment (ROI) in the world from this deal, laughing at the publication’s choice of words.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is MrBeast’s official vlog camera
Samsung announced a sponsorship deal with MrBeast on September 22. As part of the deal, the YouTube star will use the Galaxy S23 Ultra as the official vlog camera of his channel. He will also use the company’s latest foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. The Korean firm said this collaboration will showcase “what’s possible with a Galaxy smartphone for aspiring and professional creators.”
According to the company, the “ease of use, long battery life, high-quality video-taking capabilities, and unique form factors” of its devices make them powerful vlogging cameras. MrBeast agreed too. “We chose Samsung’s Galaxy devices for the high-quality footage they produce, their simplicity of use, and their versatility,” he said. “The Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy Z series devices translate into better content, it’s as simple as that.”
While it wasn’t the first time MrBeast (the most-subscribed individual on YouTube) had signed up sponsorship deals with major companies or Samsung (the world’s largest smartphone company) had roped in celebrities to promote its products, the popularity of the two parties made this collaboration global news in no time. However, The Verge called it “a ploy” from Samsung to “get kids off iPhones.”
MrBeast has hit back at these remarks
Tech YouTuber Austin Evans didn’t like the choice of words from the publication. “The tone of this article is so condescending. There’s nothing wrong with Samsung sponsoring the most popular YouTuber in the world,” he said about the publication’s report on the sponsorship deal on X/Twitter. “I bet whatever they paid MrBeast is a better ROI than the Samsung ads on The Verge,” the YouTuber added.
Many others agreed, saying that it’s clever for the world’s largest smartphone company to sponsor the biggest YouTuber. Surprisingly, MrBeast also chipped in with his opinion. “That video will probably get 400,000,000 views [the first collaboration video],” he said. “The cost per impression for Samsung is arguably the best in the world, lol,” the YouTube star added. The video in question has already crossed 126 million views. You can watch it below.
