Motorola has launched a new upper-range phone: the Motorola Edge 50 Neo. The device relies on design, durability, and photography to stand out from the crowd. It also includes some Gen AI features for customization. It’s the latest member in the lineup that already includes the Edge 50 and Edge 50 Fusion.

Motorola Edge 50 Neo brings premium design and military rating

The Edge 50 Neo is one of the most stylish and eye-catching smartphones you’ll see out there. Its vegan leather rear cover and shiny flat sides make it look more expensive than it actually is. It’s also quite compact and lightweight, with a height of 154.1mm and a weight of just 171g. Not only that, but it also boasts IP68 and MIL-STD-810H ratings, making it extremely tough and durable. Plus, it’s available in four colorways: Pantone Poinciana, Pantone Lattè, Pantone Grisaille, and Pantone Nautical Blue.

The device is built around a 6.4-inch Full HD+ pOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display supports HDR10+ and has 13% more resolution than its predecessor. Internally, the Edge 50 Neo is powered by Mediatek’s 4 nm Dimensity 7300 chip along with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. There are storage variants with 256 GB or 512 GB.

Promising cameras with optical zoom

The new smartphone also seeks to stand out for its range of cameras. It integrates a solvent configuration led by a 50 MP Sony LYTIA 700C main sensor (f/1.8 aperture, OIS). There is also a 10 MP telephoto lens with support for 3x optical zoom (up to 30x digital zoom). The third 13 MP camera is an ultra-wide + macro (f/2.2 aperture, 120° FOV, PDAF). Its front camera is a 32 MP sensor (f/2.4 aperture).

The Moto AI system promises to work in tandem with the cameras to improve image quality. It also assists during video recording with Adaptive Stabilisation. Meanwhile, a dedicated Long Exposure mode seeks to bring out your creative side by capturing motion trails.

AI-powered customization features

Considering its screen size, the 4,310 battery is decent, though nothing spectacular. The device supports 68W TurboPower wired charging and 15W wireless charging. As for software, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo runs Android 14 with support for Moto AI’s customization options. The suite includes generative features for creating wallpapers and matching them to your style, such as Style Sync and Magic Canvas.

Motorola has launched the Edge 50 in Europe for €499. It will also be available in select markets in Asia, Latin America, and Oceania.
