The Motorola Edge 30 could be just around the corner. The device has been picking up regulatory approvals thick and fast lately. We have seen it on several certification websites such as TRDA, EEC, and Wi-Fi Alliance in recent weeks. And as we wait for its official unveiling, the Motorola Edge 30 has appeared on Geekbench as well, confirming some of its rumored specs.
The upcoming premium mid-range offering from Motorola will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G Plus SoC, the Geekbench entry confirms. Well, the listing doesn’t explicitly name the chipset but there are enough hints. The octa-core chipset uses ARM’s v8 architecture. It has one prime CPU core clocked at 2.52GHz, three middle cores at 2.40GHz, and four power-efficient cores at 1.80GHz. The CPU is paired with the Adreno Adreno 642L GPU. That should be none other than the Snapdragon 778G Plus.
This Geekbench listing reveals the phone will come with 8GB of RAM, but there could be other RAM variants as well. The Motorola Edge 30 will run Android 12 out of the box. It scored a decent 821 in the single-core and 2,353 in the multi-core test on Geekbench.
Not much else is known about the Motorola Edge 30 at the moment. But with the official unveiling seemingly very close, we expect to hear more about it in the build-up to the launch. We will keep you posted.
The Motorola Edge 30 could launch soon
Motorola introduced the Edge series of smartphones in 2020. It marked the company’s return to the flagship smartphone market after nearly two years. We are now in the third generation of the new series. While some of the Edge-branded phones have been premium mid-rangers rather than flagships, the Lenovo-owned company continues to make top-tier models as well.
In January this year, Motorola announced the Edge 30 Pro as its latest flagship offering. It is a rebadged global version of the Edge X30 that debuted in China a month earlier. The device comes feature-packed with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 144Hz OLED display, up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, 50-megapixel camera with 8K video recording, stereo speakers, and a 4,800mAh battery with 68W fast charging.
The company is now gearing up to introduce an affordable Edge 30 model soon. While we don’t yet have official communication from Motorola regarding the launch of the Motorola Edge 30, recent developments suggest we aren’t too far off. We will let you know as and when we have more information.
