Writer and director Mattson Tomlin created a sci-fi film inspired by of his own parents who worked “to save their child amid the dangers of the Romanian Revolution.” He explained. “Mother/ Android is a deeply personal story inspired by sacrifices made to bring me into this world. I’m thrilled to be working with Miramax and my friend Matt Reeves to tell a story that speaks to the strength of humanity in the darkest of times.”

Chloë Grace Moretz took to Instagram to share the new poster for the film, and fans can’t wait to see the film. Cationed with, “The time has come to rise up. #MotherAndroid premieres December 17, only on @Hulu , who’s excited ???? This beautiful movie written and directed by @mattsontomlin is gonna blow your minds. I can’t wait for all of you to see it. Stay tuned :)”

Shouts of excitement followed. “So excited for this!! It’s gonna be awesome!” and “Ohhh this look fantastic!” and praise. “So proud of you, Chloë. This looks so great. You will deliver another amazing performance, I hope this time you gets the recognition you deserves!”

During the pandemic, Moretz found she had quite a bit of time on her hands, and she decided to educate herself and take a stand where she thought her help cold be utilized. “It’s important that those around me know where I stand and who I am and that my actions speak louder than my words. I am the most loyal person, to a fault. Knowing myself, speaking the truth, and my loyalty all show through, and conversations can grow from there. I always share my heart in terms of politics and what I feel is right and wrong in the industry. I’ve never backed down from being honest.”

Writer and director Mattson Tomlin ruminated on his time making Mother/ Android in his post, saying, “Thinking about being on set and all that went into this movie we made during a plague. Thinking about all that came before and after. You make a movie in so many stages. The energy ebbs and flows around you from deeply internal to external to internal and external again. But the whole time you’re laser focused on willing something from fantasy into a kind of reality we can share, letting that energy move around and sometimes through you. Holding on tight to what matters. Excited for it to come out. Soon. #motherandroid”

Mother/Android premieres on Hulu on December 17.
