2021 has been a bit of a quiet year for Motorola in terms of flagship phones. The leaked Motorola Edge X30 looks like it will be the Moto flagship we’ve been waiting for all year. Thanks to GSM Arena, there are more leaked images that give us some insight into this phone’s camera technology.
The Motorola Edge X30 will have a triple camera setup with two 50-megapixel cameras
The Motorola Edge X30 was leaked just recently, and that leak showed us what the device is going to look like. The phone has what looks to be a glass back panel with a vertically oriented rear camera package. The power and volume buttons will be on the right side of the phone and it will come without a headphone jack.
As for the cameras, this current leak reveals some of the camera specs. For starters, we now know that there will be optical image stabilization (OIS) for the cameras. Also, the leaked image lets us know that both the main camera and the ultrawide camera will be 50 megapixels.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t any information on the third camera. We can expect it to be a telephoto camera.
There might be a 60-megapixel under-display camera
The story with the selfie camera is a little confusing but interesting. These recently leaked images all show us a centered punch-hole selfie camera for the Motorola Edge X30. Even official images posted to the company’s Weibo account showed this. However, the company previously teased a 60-megapixel under-display selfie camera.
Maybe Motorola is holding out on us and it has another variant of the phone coming that we don’t know about. This makes sense because the images we’ve seen so far showed the phone with regular bezels; however, the Motorola Edge series is characterized by a curved display.
This means that there might be a more premium variant with a curved display and an under-display selfie camera. What we’re seeing in the leaks might be the lower-tier variant.
Other specs for this phone were revealed
We don’t have a complete spec sheet at the moment, there’s enough information for us to get excited. For starters, we know that this phone will be running the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, so it will be interesting to see how powerful that chip is.
We can expect a nice-looking HDR10 display that can run at 144Hz. As for any additional specs, we won’t know about them until tomorrow. Motorola is planning on announcing this phone tomorrow in China. The Motorola Edge X30 will go on sale on December 15th.
