Activision has just dropped the first official trailer for season 03 of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0, and it promises a standoff between two of the campaign’s main characters. Alejandro and Valeria. If you’ve played the campaign, then you know that these two characters have a history. And it seems that the central theme for this upcoming season is going to be ‘Alejandro vs. Valeria.’

It’s still unclear how big of a role this feud between the two will play to the season’s story beats. If there’s any story-related content at all. But just like the current season is focused on the return of Ronin and carries a Japanese theme, season 03 is going to focus on Alejandro and Valeria “settling this once and for all.” Most likely, Alejandro and Valeria will end up being new operators players can select from.

The new season also promises new maps, new guns, and new modes. Including the famed Plunder mode that was made popular in Warzone 1. The official trailer is more of a teaser, since it’s brief. But it’s packed full of details on what players can expect. Including an official release date, which is April 12.

Modern Warfare II sees the return of Plunder in season 03

Of all the things coming to the game in season 03, fans have got to be excited about the return of Plunder. A mode from Warzone 1 that tasked players with looting as much money as they could before the end of the match. The squad with the most money collectively by the end wins. Plunder won’t be available until later in the season though.

While there’s sure to be some reprised features for this mode, Infinity Ward is also no doubt going to change a thing or two to fit Warzone 2.0’s gameplay. In addition to Plunder, season 03 will also introduce new multiplayer maps. Activision doesn’t mention what these are just yet, but more details will be included in the roadmap dropping April 6.

Another new mode coming with the next season is Gunfight Cranked. It’s unclear how this is different from the Gunfight in past Call of Duty titles. Remaining new modes that Activision has teased in the trailer include Al Mazrah Resurgence, Warzone Ranked, and Blackcell.

Again these details are fairly brief but it gives players a little something to look forward to. The new season releases next week Wednesday, so the wait won’t be long if you’re dying for fresh content.
