The film has also gotten even more hype from its stars, with Cary Elwes recently describing the sequel as the “biggest action blockbuster” that’s ever been released. While that’s definitely a bold claim, the strong reviews do lend some credence to what he’s saying, as do the projections for the box office success. Estimates are predicting that the new film will set a record for the strongest opening for the Mission: Impossible franchise.

“I’m excited for [audiences] to see the film because it’s the biggest action blockbuster of all time,” Elwes says. “There’s no question about it. I thought it was gonna drag. I’m like, “Wait a minute, that’s over already?” It was insanely fast. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. That’s Chris McQuarrie, our director, he’s a genius. And our editor Eddie Hamilton, brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.”

In a separate interview with ComicBook.com, star Simon Pegg also teased, “There will be another dial on the, you know, another notch on the dial will get turned on, and it’s coming to something incredible. I love the fact that this film feels like, even though it’s Part One, because it’s so relentlessly paced and so sort of engaging, you get to the end of it and you’re like, Okay, I can wait for the next one; you know, let me just take a break, and then we’ll see what happens next.”
