Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is officially coming to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft confirms. The game will be available to Game Pass subscribers on July 24, both coinciding with and boosting the game’s launch of Season 5. Thanks to Xbox Game Pass availability, Season 5 has the potential to be the biggest season ever for Call of Duty, or at least incredibly important.
The arrival of Modern Warfare III on Xbox Game Pass has the potential to bring in more players, and that could help boost the already popular online multiplayer modes. Rumors of the game launching on Game Pass on July 24 were circulating for a little while. Those rumors came to a head on July 22 with yet another rumor corroborating those earlier claims, and Microsoft has now confirmed its launch, proving those rumors to be accurate.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be available across three of Microsoft’s service tiers. Game Pass for Console, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate. What’s more, is that the game’s arrival on the service will include multiple modes of play.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III on Game Pass includes all modes
If you’re looking to dive into Modern Warfare III tomorrow, you will have your pick of content to play through. The game’s arrival on Game Pass will open up access to all modes of play. This means you can check out the single-player campaign, or jump right into the multiplayer or Zombies modes.
Microsoft has also released a new trailer to hype up tomorrow’s launch, which you can check out below. Modern Warfare III will be the first Call of Duty game on Xbox Game Pass. It won’t be the last, however. Microsoft confirmed earlier this year that Black Ops 6 would launch on the service as a day-one game.
Do Game Pass subscribers have access to any extras?
This is undoubtedly something that some players are going to wonder about. Whether or not you will get any extra benefits as a Game Pass subscriber. Such as a battle pass unlock. Microsoft doesn’t mention anything about that in its announcement post. So it’s probably safe to assume that if you want access to the entirety of the battle pass, you’ll have to spend some CoD points on it. If this is the case, then you’ll also have the option to buy the Black Cell battle pass which is $30.
As mentioned before, this will get you CoD points, 25 battle pass tokens to use right away, and a special Black Cell-exclusive sector with blueprints and other items you can only get from the Black Cell battle pass. While you will probably still have to spend money on these in-game items, the game itself won’t cost you money if you’re already subscribed to Game Pass. So you still end up with a decent deal there. Of course, if you already own the game on PC, you can also play it via GeForce NOW.
