Meizu was once flying high in the smartphone market. It was one of the most prospective Chinese smartphone OEMs. Things changed over time, however, and a lot of things happened. We haven’t seen a global product from the company in a long time. Well, Meizu is seemingly making a comeback at MWC 2025. New smartphones seem to be on the way, along with some other products.
Meizu seems to be making a comeback at MWC 2025
This information comes from GSM Arena, who claims the company will make some announcements in Barcelona. The teaser image that the company shared confirms that information. You can check it out below.
As you can see, dates from March 3 to March 6 are mentioned, as is MWC 2025. You can see a smartphone in the image, along with a car, and what seem to be VR or AR glasses.
New phones will be presented, along with AIoT devices, and more
GSM Arena did share some additional information about this. The source claims that the flagship phone will be accompanied by two other smartphones. AIoT devices are also coming, and AI software advancements will be announced too.
Meizu also promised to show off AI smart glasses, smart rings, and more, though we’re not sure if that will happen at MWC or not. In any case, it’s really nice to see that Meizu is making a comeback, even though a lot of things changed in the meantime.
Meizu actually announced an exit from the smartphone business a year ago, but that didn’t last. Meizu partnered up with Polestar, which yielded some products in the Chinese smartphone market. The company is now looking to expand its horizons, it seems.
Meizu was acquired by Geely back in 2022
This company was nowhere to be found for a long time and was then acquired by Geely, a car maker, back in 2022. Things started moving from that point on, though very slowly.
Last year, in May, Meizu announced the Meizu 21 Note. That device arrived after a year-long wait, as no devices were announced since the Meizu 20 series arrived in March 2023. Those devices arrived after a 1.5-year wait.
It will be interesting to see what is Meizu planning, as we’ll get plenty of info at MWC 2025, it seems.
